How Does It Work?
The EnerGreen programme operates under the Malaysia’s recently launched Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) as part of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) which promotes transition to renewable energy in the country.
The scheme facilitates the supply of green electricity by connecting eligible renewable energy (RE) generators with corporate companies under mutually agreed terms. Businesses can source renewable energy directly from approved RE generators through third-party access (TPA) or utilise the national grid network by participating in available schemes.

EnerGreen is a green electricity tariff plan where businesses have the chance to purchase electricity from an alternative electricity supplier other than TNB. The electricity supplied is direct from renewable energy sources, ensuring it is 100% green.
When you subscribe to EnerGreen, a dedicated solar farm will be built to meet your electricity needs. Unlike electricity from traditional, carbon-emitting power plants like coal or gas, this green electricity is produced without releasing any carbon into the environment.
The cost may vary depending on the provider and the specific plan you choose. Typically, green electricity plans might have a slightly higher rate compared to conventional plans due to the investment in renewable energy. However, the environmental benefits and potential long-term savings often outweigh the additional cost.

All EnerGreen electricity comes from solar photovoltaic farms located in Peninsular Malaysia which may be attached to a Battery Energy Storage System (optional).
For our EnerGreen SolarPack programme, which comes with a co-located Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the green electricity canbe matched to your energy consumption through time of discharge from the BESS. However, this is subject to your load profile.
The terms and conditions vary by plan, but typically include the duration of the contract, pricing details, early termination fees, and information on how the green electricity is sourced and certified.
Currently, the EnerGreen plan is for new electricity users only. Existing electricity users who have already purchased electricity from TNB as of1st September 2024 are not qualified. However, we recommend staying updated on potential regulation changes in future.
An agreed volume of electricity will be allocated for consumption each month. If there is excess consumption, the additional electricity will be supplied from non-green sources. If consumption is lower than expected, both parties may agree to carry forward the unused electricity to subsequent months.
The green attribute of the electricity consumed is “bundled“ with your electricity delivered and comes with a certificate of origin and green attribute certificate to prove the source. This document is often based on the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and can be used for sustainability reporting and compliance purposes.
EnerGreen is primarily tailored more for larger-scale corporations and businesses with high energy consumption needs. It is designed to support companies with substantial sustainability goals and higher energy demands. However, there is no lower limit on who can subscribe to the plan.
