Johnson Controls Hitachi

Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning Malaysia has initiated a significant sustainability project by installing a solar system at its manufacturing facility in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. With a generation capacity exceeding 3 MWp, this solar installation is projected to supply approximately 30% of the facility’s electricity needs. This initiative marks a substantial step towards the company’s commitment to clean energy adoption within the manufacturing sector.

The solar installation is expected to offset over 2.55 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually, which is equivalent to powering 546 homes per year or charging over 2,300 electric vehicles annually.

IHH

IHH Healthcare Malaysia has embarked on an ambitious renewable energy initiative, installing solar power system across its entire hospital network. As of April 2024, solar systems have been activated at eight hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia. The solar installations aim for full deployment across 15 hospitals by the end of 2025.

The solar systems, with a total capacity of 5 MW, are part of IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s broader commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. These solar systems will help significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions as part of the company’s commitment to achieving et-zero emissions by 2050. This move supports IHH Healthcare’s goal to lead by example in the healthcare industry, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Malaysia Airport

Malaysia Airports has installed solar power systems at Penang International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Sultan Ahmad Shah (Kuantan) Airport, Melaka Airport, and Kota Kinabalu International Airport to support its sustainability goals. These projects collectively generated around 19,122 MWh of clean energy in 2022—helping to reduce approximately 12,219 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The installations are part of Malaysia Airports’ broader commitment to achieving net-zero goal by 2050 while improving energy efficiency and operational savings.

Manila Water

Manila Water has installed solar systems at their key facilities, namely Cardona Water Treatment Plant, East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant, and San Juan Compound to boost its clean energy use. The 2.5 MWp installations are expected to generate about 3.6 million kWh of clean energy annually—enough to offset around 2,576 tons of carbon emissions each year.

These projects mark the first phrase of Manila Water’s 30 MWp solar programme, strengthening its commitment to energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable operations.

Singtel

The solar panels covering an area equivalent to two football fields are helping to generate 10% of the energy needed at Singtel’s Bedok Data Centre. This installation is expected to produce about 2,059 MWh of clean energy annually—enough to power around 462 four-room flats each month.

The Bedok Data Centre is now Singtel’s largest source of clean energy generation, supporting the company’s goal of achieving a “net-zero” carbon footprint by a conservative target year of 2050.
